look both ways

tuesday evening (yesterday), as i was going downstairs for dinner, there was a loud and sickening sound. it sounded like an accident.

oh dear! there was an unnatural meeting between a motorcycle and a motorcar. the cyclist was lying on the road but fortunately moving. (he got up to push his motorcycle up and to the side as the driver of the motorcar backed his vehicle into a side lane.)

so i put on my shirt to go help the poor chap. once the old man had put his car aside, he came to look over the cyclist. my neighbour offered water to the wounded man. "how are you? are you hurt?", i heard myself asking. "yarhhh... okay, okay." i noticed some blood on his shirt and told him, "hey, there's blood on your shirt lah." "yarhhh... i broke some ribs on the handlebar." woh! tough guy. he seemed unperturbed with a few broken bones. must be the shock. "are you going to the hospital?" "yarhhh... my friend is coming."

well, shortly his friend arrives and takes him to the hospital. the motorcar driver looks at his kelisa and sighs... what to do? motorcyclist coming in the wrong direction on a one way street and the old man only looked one way when coming out of the junction.

often in life, we have to look both ways.
